If I can cage this earlier it usually means they'll be unable to get to their colour bomb, plus it narrows down the top of their board. A second cage, if possible, next to this is near fatal. If the book/ RC doesn't come up there are various options - I too tend to send requests for lives, that tends to refresh things and then RC shows up. Failing this, play a normal level (even quit this early if you can't be bothered) and following that RC should appear - this is the most reliable way of getting RC to appear.
