Yes, a lot of players have complained about this event. It takes 1620 (!) levels to earn the 300 gold prize! It's ridiculous.

The timer starts the moment that you get the prize and counts down in synch with the time set on your phone. I have never known it to fail like that. I always get the exact time stated for all my timed boosters: You can check how much is left by clicking on your inventory, underneath your avatar at the top of the map…

That would be a totally different app and a totally different game then. You can't bet on a game that consists of controlled algorithms like Candy Crush. There is no random element in Candy Crush. Betting apps would have to have an element of chance, surely?
