@KimElston I think the pumpkin lanterns have come to protect your house. They illuminate and drive away the creepy ghosts in the area. It doesn't haunt you anymore and you can sleep in peace.

In the old days the lit pumpkin was meant to protect a person from evil and mischievous spirits. So they’re either there to protect you two from the spirits or they just trick or treating early. There’s nothing to be afraid of. 🎃
