    Level 3

Depression (for those who havenโ€™t experienced it) is very different from just being sad or having a bad day. It can seriously affect every part of you: emotional, mental, and physical. It disrupts your life. Those who donโ€™t know what it is like sometimes tell their loved ones things like, โ€œjust try smiling moreโ€ etc. They mean well, but that is not helpful.

Therapists are trained to help one cope better - just talking things out with a non-judgemental 3rd party can improve things. They are also taught to see when a person might benefit from a psychiatrist for medications (or other treatments, biofeedback, acupuncture, Electronic Brain Stimulation).

Mental health challenges often involve unbalanced brain chemistry. That doesnโ€™t mean โ€œitโ€™s all in your head.โ€ Hitting your thumb with a hammer also disrupts brain chemistry, that doesnโ€™t make the pain less real! Needing antidepressants(etc) is no different for such folks as diabetics needing insulin.

I wish @fabke and anyone else needing it the best. As I have a few areas of my mental health requiring medicinal support, I know what itโ€™s like, and that it can get better.

PS I am hiring an editor to shorten my posts to reasonable sizes, resumes welcome! ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Thanks for your kind words @doncoyote

I didn't understand real depression till I got 24 years old, I had it before 1 day or when I was 16. So I didn't understood people who had it, I got it real bad around 26 a 27 years.

And I have to leave with it. Tried a lot of therapy and it helps. So I'm going to phone for a 3rd part, that is the easiest way. There's was a lot of insecurity in my life from when I was young and that's make me not loving myself.

PS I was a good accountant and secretary.

Hi @doncoyote and thank you. There are times when a message needs to be lengthy and this is one of them.

A dear friend in the public eye suffered a complete physical and mental breakdown and is slowly on the way to recovery with excellent help, although it certainly has not been easy for him or his family.

@fabke and others in the same situation - I do hope and pray that @doncoyote has given you encouragement.

@CassD ๐Ÿ’Œ I completely agree. Sometimes you just have to say it all๐Ÿ’•@doncoyote that was very well said, I believe it will help some people alot towards understanding the issues we can face at times.๐Ÿ’ž@fabke I know what it's like to struggle with those things inside, and to feel like you have to hide everything away. It's hard to deal with, & hard to talk about.๐Ÿ˜” I've been on both sides of the rope playing tug-a-war, as always wanting to help family and friends, as well as going through it myself. ๐Ÿ’šI know this sounds cliche

But time really does help heal. ๐Ÿ’Œ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿฅฐsending you and whoever else needs it Lots of Love. ๐Ÿ’•May it help guide to balance within โ˜ฏ๏ธ๐Ÿ’šโ˜ฎ๐Ÿ’ž๐Ÿฅฐ
