What I wrote, new players. I really have no idea what's going on. To
be honest, it blows players who have been here for a long time and play a
lot of games and are sometimes back at the end of the map.

It is possible that the algorithm counts time spending in games and players progress!
Also could count progress/time in game, as a fraction.
By this way, because usually new players spend more time playing daily and they have better progress because of the easier levels, they have better results.
Another possibility is that money spent in games are counted, but this does not fit to new players.

However, the official answer is that the pro players are selected "automatically"!
I suppose that more details is difficult to be given, if we ask so!
