    Have you always played with pumpkins before? Unfortunately there is no pumpkin game here. A new idea. Halloween saga.

    Hello there, @Spinnifix !

    Celebrated annually on October 31, Halloween is one of the world’s oldest holidays which originated from ancient festivals and rituals. Today, it is a widely celebrated tradition in few countries like the United States, Ireland and Canada. There could be more which I am not aware of. The traditions include costume parties, trick-or-treating, pranks and games.

    United States

    I worked with Westin Hotels & Resorts for 8 years. Every year, we came in to work in realistic costumes. Each individual employee also brought in a dish that we signed-up for to bring as part of the potluck party. After 8 years, I decided to move on to another company, Travel & Transport where the Halloween tradition was the same.

    In the home scene, kids usually anticipate this day where they could dress-up in goblins or superhero costumes and get treats of candies and chocolates. I used to buy costumes for my son from when he was a baby up until he no longer wants to participate anymore. On the day, I walked with him and his friends around the neighborhood. It wasn’t easy because October 31 is usually a cold day here in the Midwest. As they reached the age of 7, I just followed them behind closely in an SUV which was a good idea having a warm vehicle to get back to, to get warmed up.Β

    As a tradition, a week before the Halloween, quite a few households in the community decorate their front yard, making it look like a graveyard. This year 2020 is just a big change from the year before because of the pandemic.

    Philippines

    I was born, raised and educated in the Philippines. Growing-up, we didn't have a Halloween Tradition in the country, although my family used to host a Costume & Potluck Party for family and friends on the day.

    November 1, All Saints Day and November 2, All Souls Day are celebrated in the country where families prepare and bring food and drinks, game cards, mahjong set, tables and chairs to the cemetery as they visit their dead loved ones. This is a whole day affair.

    Hi @Spinnifix

    Halloween isn’t really that big in Australia πŸ‡¦πŸ‡Ί, or should I say where I live.

    Some people do go all out and decorate their house and dress up in costumes. The kids do go around trick or treating. Hard to say what will happen this year with the virus.

    Happy Halloween everyone πŸ¨πŸ¦˜πŸŠπŸ€—

    Hello Everyone!

    Germany is not quite so for Halloween. Even if you can buy costumes now. I come from the GDR and we had never heard of it. Only when we are a Germany. I just published a post in the German area beforehand.

    If you feel like it, you are welcome to come by and please bring the translator with you!πŸ˜‰

    @Spinnifix thanks for tag.

    As our German ambassador has already said, it is not very common in Germany. Since we have a lockdown from Monday, we were in the restaurant again today. On the way there we saw some small groups with children who shouted "sweet or sour" and also got sweets in the restaurant.

    Especially children love it. My next generation carves pumpkins with their children and sends pictures of them to the family. But it's more fun than we have a tradition.
