National Mother Goose Day on May 1st each year honors Mother Goose and the imaginary author of a collection of fairy tales and nursery rhymes we loved as children. Mother Goose is often illustrated as an elderly countrywoman in a tall hat and shawl, but she is also sometimes depicted as a goose wearing a bonnet.

In honor of this day, I have created The story of Mother Goose where Tiffi learns more about these nursery rhymes. I hope that you enjoy the story.

It brings me back to my childhood and I can't remember why we learned it in French and not in English but I remember reciting it a long, long time ago.

Hello @Elsa, thank you for the stories of Mother Goose.

I can only confirm that stories, rhymes and songs in a child's early years are extremely important for their development. My granddaughter loved to hear songs and stories as a baby. Even though she did not yet understand it, it was important to hear the mother's voice or another devotee at first. Later, when she began to speak her first words, she demanded stories, songs, and poems. After several repetitions, she then remembered things and recited them herself. She loves songs and has a book with melodies of children's songs. She often sits down with this songbook, presses a button for the melody and sings the lyrics to it.

I didn't know the history of everything. I always assumed that at some point in the past something of stories, songs and poems was written down and it was passed down from generation to next generation. It may also be the case, but in each country it is different.
