My Dad never enjoyed very good health and was not often at work, so there was never much money, but our home was always full of love and laughter. If we needed new shoes or clothing, we used to sit down as a family and decide whose need was the most pressing. He taught me to be careful with money and to respect people.
One of my clearest memories was his sitting patiently to teach me about multiplication of decimals; I just couldn't grasp it at school, but, after he showed me, I never had difficulty with it again.
He died some years ago, but I still miss him and I am so proud to have had him as my Dad.

Hiya @wykoon,
I too have enjoyed reading all of the posts about our Fathers', even though some are so sad... that's the only negative about threads such as these.
I also lost my father at a young age, he was 39... I was 5. I can still remember that day, my mom and I waiting for him to pick us up. We waited for 2 hours or so, then got home another way only to find the police waiting for us. They had come to inform us that my father had dropped dead from a heart attack just before coming to pick us up. They said he was probably dead when he hit the sidewalk. The next day my grandmother ( my father's mother) died from a heart attack coming to our house. So in the end there was a double funeral which I wasn't allowed to attend being so young. I don't remember a whole lot about my father as my parents had been separated for about a year before his death. But I do remember that he loved me, was very strict, but I deserved the paddlings that I got cause I was a handful. I remember that he was tall and very handsome and regret everyday that I never really got to know him. He was a wonderful provider, my mom and me never wanted for anything. My mom took it hard which made it hard on me being an only child. But in the end I loved them both. You only get one set of ( real ) parents so treasure the one or ones you have or had in memory....I know I do. Love you Dad (and Mom)..to this day.π
Happy Father's Day to all you Dad's out there. β£οΈ

11 years ago my dad and I worked together at a plant...Monday may 26th 2010 between 12-1230..there was an explosion in the back of the plant..how was I supposed to know my dad was back there. I stood frozen..watching that big flame go up in the air..then white smoke went everywhere. I fell to my knees hyperventilating when I found out dad was back there. Along with two other men..my dad had to have new skin..my father and the two other men survived..57% of my father's body was burnt. Since that day..I'm terrified of loud motors..I'm still trying to get used to fires again..having all this new skin..he's not able to sweat or make a fist anymore.
