dear @_Elsa_
I hope the community will appreciate another of my poems on the theme ๐A great gift!
In a small house,
a little girl...
impatiently awaits Christmas,
sadness envelops her gaze,
a fixed thought torments her,
she doesn't talk about it with her mother,
she doesn't want to make her sad too.
She has decided...
that night,
the night of Christmas Eve
she won't sleep.
She wants to see him,
yes... she wants to meet him,
yes... him...
Santa Claus.
Her mother, tucking her in,
says "good night darling,
sleep well and remember that...
Santa Claus is coming tonight,
he will come down from the roof hatch".
Her mother is sleeping,
her little brother too...
the little girl... gets up,
slowly... slowly,
a few small steps,
silent, in the darkness...
she curls up right there...
under the hatch in the attic,
with her gaze turned to the ceiling.
It's late at night
and still nothing is happening,
she wants to talk to him
she's sure that Santa Claus
can't help but listen
to what she has to say to him.
She's thought about it for a long time
she doesn't want him to bring her
neither that tricycle,
that she's been waiting for so long,
nor any other gifts.
She desires a bigger gift,
"she wants her dad to come back",
who's gone far away to work.
She waits... waits... and waits...
her eyes begin to get heavy,
that's how sleep envelops her.
She doesn't hear...
when two strong arms,
gently pick her up from the ground,
putting her back to the warmth...
under the covers,
then touching her forehead...
with a tender kiss.
She doesn't even hear...
when...
those same arms,
at the foot of the bed
a large package
they deposit...
and then silently
walk away.
In the morning she wakes up almost suddenly,
finding herself in bed...
she realizes that she has
missed the opportunity
to talk to Santa Claus.
Tears begin to fall...
they streak her little face,
little sobs of crying...
softly at first,
more and more intense after.
Her mother, who has been up for hours,
runs to her...
she hugs her sweetly,
whispers...
"my little one, don't cry,
come on, open your eyes,
come...
there's a surprise!!!
Santa Claus,
he gave us a great present".
The little girl...
incredulous and perplexed,
at her mother's words...
stops crying,
makes to get up...
opens her eyes...
and...
sees her father
there... standing...
next to her mother,
who smiles...
holding out his arms to her.
The little heart...
beats wildly,
her eyes shine with joy,
with a leap...
she leaps to his neck,
and covers him with kisses.
She looks up...
and...
with her eyes turned to the trapdoor...
she shouts with joy...
out loud...
thank youu ...(Lucia)

@_Elsa_ & @Scooterpie are you ladies baking some gingerbread cookies this year ?

Not me! Would you believe that I'm never eaten that? I never even made a gingerbread house. I was online this morning looking to see what I can buy for myself so I looked up cookies and fruit and other things but then shut down the computer. Nothing looked interesting but maybe I'll see if I can find delivery for gingerbread cookies instead! ๐
