Let's share some things about the Chinese New Year!
A week from today is the Chinese New Year. I know that we have quite a few Asian community members here so how about you share what your family and friends do to celebrate this?
I know that it's the year of the snake but that is my least favorite reptile so I won't go there!
Look at how excited Yeti is. He can't wait to hear what our community members have to say about this celebration. If you don't celebrate it, that's fine. Maybe we can find some interesting facts or images to share with all who do celebrate it here.

It's not yet CNY but I already heard the firecrackers sound outside my house. The time now is 8.50pm here.
And I think the most favourite color in CNY is red color.
Before the CNY, my family will do big house cleaning once a year during December and start to make cookies during January. It's already becomes a tradition to us.
Now, we have done house cleaning and making cookies. We have done decorating our house also. Here's some of the decorations in my house.
Here is the cookies we made, we only open it to eat during CNY.
This is one of the cookies we made:
And this is pork meat slices:
Something wrong with my phone camera…
And here's the fruit we used to eat during CNY: the mandarin
Now, we are preparing the dishes for the gathering dinner (Tuan Yuan Fan). This is one of the dishes, the pork meat balls:
This is the dried pork or duck meat (La Wei):
We use it too cook with rice.

WOW! I love all your pictures. I love how you decorate your home. Those cookies look good enough to eat! How many days do you celebrate this holiday? I remember reading somewhere that it lasts a few days. Also do you invite family and friends to come eat with you? Do you go from house to house?
