You can claim lives from your friends when you have used up your 5 lives. Go to the envelope in the top left corner of your game and click on Messages. If friends have sent you a life, you can pick it up and use it.
Also, whenever you open the game, don't forget to send life to your friends. Your friends will thank you and send life as well. In this way, I have already been given 218 lives.
