Hello Blawsome Bees!

Flowers have been symbols of different things over the years. We use them in celebrations, we use them in commemorations, and we even eat some of them.

It really is amazing how practical flowers can be and how much joy they bring into our lives.

I mean, I don’t know a person who hates flowers, except a few people with allergies 😜

It is good to know some facts about flowers, in order to avoid embarrassing situations, so let's share the symbolism of some of the flowers we know about.

You all know that red roses are a symbol of love, desire and passion. But do you know that purple roses stand for enchantment and love at first sight?

Or that yellow roses mean friendship? Yep, don’t give yellow roses to your beloved one on St. Valentine’s, because they are not a sign for love.

In Victorian times, they were even considered a sign for jealousy.

Lotus flowers are magnificent plants. They grow in muddy water and only their blooms are above the water.

Lotuses are very interesting as their blooms close at night and sink in water, and once the sun rises they appear on the surface again.

They are symbols of long life, honour, good luck, purity of mind and heart, and health. It is not a coincidence that Buddha is always drawn sitting on a lotus flower in old Buddhist books.

Wanna symbolize loyalty, longevity, and adoration? The sunflower is your flower then!

Sunflowers are unique because they can provide energy in the form of their vibrant colors and their seeds, a common food source both for humans as well as other animals- just like their namesake: the sun.

Apart from symbolizing love (thanks to their very sensual fragrance), violets can symbolize honesty, protection, dreams, healing, remembrance and determination. They can also mean growth, expansion, and peace-  even mental clarity!
