You need to ask for friends in your game. Click on the Envelope in the upper left corner.
I play through my phone on the app, and I use the envelope to send lives almost everyday. I get back dozens of them. I have hundreds of lives, just by sending lives to others.

I am level 1313, and the entire time I have been playing this game, I have always wondered what’s the difference of getting 1,2, or 3 star? There is no incentive to strive for 3 star since I don’t see getting anything but higher points.
