The numbers show that you still get the points even if you skip. The program calculates what you would have gotten without showing it to you. So skipping is better because you waste less time but get the same number of points.

Yes. Based on the description, it seems like they are using fairly normal levels as well (maybe already existing levels?). It would seem likely from the description that the winner is likely to be determined more by luck (how the candies drop) than skill.
