Thanks for help - I've given up retrieving the lost lives. Logging out/in didn't help and asking for lives might help now, but doesn't help getting the missing 30 odd lives back.

Its more likely to be your phone. As they are stored in the phone memory now with the game itself, when the game updates or the phone or sometimes even the temp memory on your phone is cleaned, it can cause things to be lost.Its the same with all games, that's why its not a good idea to hang on to too many. I am sorry its not the reply you want but King are unable to add lives or boosters back.
