This happened with another game I played, Solitaire Cruise. They made it to where you had to make purchases to play. Make sure your progress is saved (mine is through Facebook), log off, close all apps, restart your phone, make sure the app is updated, sign back in, request lives and you should start receiving lives from friends again. I did this last night and it worked out 🙂
