Did you let them run out without playing? That happened to me the first time I got that. It's real time regardless whether you play at that moment or not. Also, it isn't compatible between devices; if you got those on your mobile then you can't use them on PC.

Can you describe what you see or what you tab on? I believe they have different challenges going on and there's one where you first need to be on a certain level although you can already see the icon. If you're not there yet, then nothing will happen if you tab on the icon. Does that ring a bell?

You mean you never connected from within the game to your Facebook or your Kingdom account? I would always recommend you to connect to at least one of them, just because then you won't ever lose your progress not when doing updates nor when reinstalling a game. Also, it allows you play continue your game on other devices.…

In the Kingdom you can get random friends which is really helpful as they can send you help and lives too. Hi Catalin I'd check for updates for your device and all your apps. Restart your device too. Check if you still have memory on your device and if it's running low on memory, then consider storing apps on a SD card to free memory on your device.
