The story about childhood imagination and make believe

“Children are beautiful because they possess something that we have all lost – the quality of innocence,” says our storyteller. “The gap between innocence and experience is endlessly explored. Haven’t some of you felt in exile ever since childhood – not as a result of some traumatic experience, but the simple, slow dimmer switch of time passing and imagination coarsening?”
Do you remember the days, as a child, when you looked forward to Santa Claus, the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny? Then along came the elf on a shelf and it became another magical belief. But then one day you are all grown up and those fantasy beliefs are gone. What if you could have them return to you by making a wish? Which one would you choose and why?”
And so, our sorry begins………………….
One day Elsa is sitting at her computer but she is at a loss for a short story idea. She looks over the list of stories that she has already created. Perhaps she could have a follow-up to one of her stories. The next holiday coming up is Thanksgiving. She already wrote her Thanksgiving 2020 story and uploaded it to the community. Just then her phone rings.
“Hi Elsa, Tiffi here,” says Tiffi. “What have you been up to lately?”
Elsa shares three new stories that she wrote and posted in the community this weekend.
“I wrote Thanksgiving 2020 about some baby turkeys having a demonstration not to eat turkey or ham for the holiday,” says Elsa. “Then I wrote the story about Rachel and Rancid Preparing for the wedding. I just finished a story about Yeti travels in time. That was a fun story because Yeti went back into the past and met up with some dinosaurs and dragons.”
Tiffi can’t wait to read those stories. She asks Elsa what she’s going to write next but this is where the storyteller draws a blank. She shares with Tiffi that she would like to write something about how as children we had all these fantasy beliefs but once she became an adult she lost those beliefs. She wishes that she could get them back again.
“It’s really sad that when we are children we have imaginary friends, believe in mythical holiday characters and enjoy make believe play time,” says Elsa.
Tiffi understands where Elsa is coming from because she stopped believing in all of those things too. She sure wishes that she could help her friend. The girls make plans to get together and then Tiffi has to head out the door to help the players with their levels.
Let’s continue - Elsa starts googling
