Special games not working

i am having problems playing the special games on Candy Crush Friends. Since last Friday I was unable to play the weekly challenge. I would hit play and be kicked out of the app. I could play regular levels but not the special game. That game is now over and I lost the opportunity for those prizes.
i am now having the same problem with Yetis new challenge. Hopefully this can be fixed soon.
my app is up to date so not sure what the problem is.

When you play the yeti's side event and click on a level dose it kick you out of that event and take you back to the regular saga map? Or are you getting kicked off the entire game App? I'm wondering because it sounds like your game is crashing on you if your getting booted off the game App. If that's the case please look at this link and let me know if that helps you. Please keep in touch and let me know.
Please note** that if you decide to uninstall and reinstall the app that you will loose all of your boosters.

I followed the instructions on the link you provided. I have cleaned my iPad up and have 12 GB of storage available. I also shut the iPad totally down and restarted. I tried Yetis challenge last night and was able to complete the first level. When I moved onto level 2 I am able to click play, watch the video for the booster and click collect. Then it starts to bring up the game when I am kicked out of the app. I tried again this morning and the same thing.

So what I gather with your new information that you provided is that after you play a level you have a ' watch add ' for a free booster(s). Sometimes when we get boosters they can work against us in certain levels because those boosters can make it where we are unable to play/ match candies in certain level depending on they type of boosters and level.
If it's possible could you take a video or a screenshot? Another quick question is this only happening with the side events or also on your regular saga levels on the map?

Thank you for letting me know that this problem is only happening on side events also thank you for trying to play without watching the video adds for boosters. This is very helpful information.
To help you with your question about recording your game while playing,yes you can here is a link to help you with that.
Also if you could provide what model iPad your are using would be helpful as @Lola_Pop mentioned. I hope we can resolve this problem for you soon.
