I like bats a lot, they come out in my neighbourhood in the summer quite early, there's still light out and make their cute little noises. This is from a baby bat, rescued by someone:

    isn't it cute?? 😍

Let's not forget Count von Count, a character on the TV series Sesame Street. The Count is friendly, non-threatening figure on the Street, but his early appearances in 1972 had a more sinister edge. He had hypnotic powers, and was able to stun other Muppets by waving his hands. After counting, he uttered a villainous laugh as lightning flashed in moody colors.

@MountainMom When I was growing up, I used to be afraid of vampires. I would have nightmares if we watched a movie with vampires and bats. I only vampire I used to love was Grandpa from the Munsters.

Vlad III, the real Count Dracula

Was Romanian Prince Vlad III the real Count Dracula? In part, yes, although the history of this figure is permeated with legends.

Rarely in the lore of the horror genre has a character had as much impact as Count Dracula. This character was developed by Irish writer Bram Stoker in a novel of the same name published in 1897.

The story of Vlad III is considered one of the most curious and cruel in history. Vlad III's Romanian surname was Dracuela, which means something close to "son of the dragon". That's because his father, Vlad II, belonged to a religious sect whose symbol was the dragon. For this reason, Vlad III was also known as Vlad Dracul or, simply, Dracula. Both Vlad III and his ancestors were in bloody wars against neighboring peoples, mainly Hungarians and Ottomans.
