Hello guys! Here is something that I find very interesting! Did you know that people saw the planet Uranus before we even saw Antarctica? In fact, Uranus was discovered in 1781, and Antarctica was not discovered until almost 40 years later in 1820! Weird how people saw another planet before seeing another continent on our own planet.
    That’s interesting, I didn't know that...Tnx for sharing 🤔😉

Very interesting guys! Here’s another fact for you guys! Did you know that it wasn’t until 1804 when the world population finally reached 1 billion? Now, 215 years later here in 2019, that number has risen to around 7.7 billion, thanks to the advancement of modern technology and medicine.

The official, full name of Bangkok is quite a mouthful. Try saying it once, let alone 10 times fast! Here goes:

Krung Thep Mahanakhon Amon Rattanakosin Mahinthara Ayuthaya Mahadilok Phop Noppharat Ratchathani Burirom Udomratchaniwet Mahasathan Amon Piman Awatan Sathit Sakkathattiya Witsanukam Prasit

Wow, that sure is a mouthful to say @firebombmarkus! I don’t think I was able to pronounce most of those words correctly! Thank goodness we just say Bangkok! Much easier! Thanks for sharing! Anyway, here’s another fact for you guys! Did you know that the Pacific Ocean is so big, that it is bigger than all of the land area on earth combined? That sure is pretty big if you ask me!

I agree @Joseph45 I will stick with Bangkok too 😁 Didn't know about the Pacific Ocean. It's huge 😱

Did you know that there is an American town with a population of one? Monowi, Nebraska is the only town in the United States with an official population of one person. Yes, she owes taxes... to herself! She is in her 80s and she is employed as village's mayor, librarian and bartender.

Wow, really!? It would be kind of nice to own your own town and, well, owe money to yourself! Very interesting @firebombmarkus

Here’s another fact for you guys! Did you know that the oldest recorded age for a human belongs to Jean Louis Calment of France. Born in 1875, she lived all the way until her passing in 1997! That’s 122 years and 164 days to be precise!

Do you know how long wild birds live?

Bird mortality is generally highest in the first year after hatching, and ornithologists estimate that 80-90 percent of baby birds do not live to maturity. Considering one pair of birds alone could have 15-20 baby birds each year, only a few may reach the age of adulthood. If mortality was not dramatically high, bird overpopulation would be a serious issue. A number of factors, including disease and predators, affect mortality. However when ornithologists were able to look at banded birds (birds they marked with a plastic band on the birds foot) over a long period of time, they were able to record average lifespans for various wild birds.

Longest bird lifespans (recorded from banded birds):

    • Laysan albatross: 65+ years and still living (the oldest living wild bird on record)
    • Arctic tern: 34 years, 0 months
    • Brown pelican: 27 years, 10 months
    • Great Horned Owl: 27 years, 7 months
    • Mute Swan: 26 years, 9 months
    • Red-tailed Hawk: 25 years, 9 months
    • Great blue heron: 23 years, 3 months
    • Sandhill crane: 18 years, 6 months
    • Northern Cardinal: 15 years, 9 months
    • American Robin: 13 years, 11 months
    • House sparrow: 13 years, 4 months
    • Wild turkey: 12 years, 6 months
    • Killdeer: 10 years, 11 months
    • Eastern bluebird: 10 years, 5 months
I had no idea wild birds lived so long (well once they get over that initial hump anyway 😉).

A macaw parrot lives an average of 80-100 years.. the oldest bird on record was a flamingo to add to the trivia. Cool topic @wafercookieflippers 👍

That’s really interesting about the flamingo @Alansmart! I had heard about the macaws before—some people put their pet macaws in their wills to make sure that they are taken care of after their death! 😜

My brain is acting like an octopus loool @wafercookieflippers.. here are a couple more bird facts, flamingos get their color from what they eat! An African grey parrot has the largest vocabulary of birds as they can learn upwards of 5000 words!

Keep calm and crush on  🍬🔨
