Hi @Princess_Jessica! When I was growing up my family didn't celebrate this holiday but when my kids got married and had children every year we'd take them on an Easter egg hunt. Sometimes it was on the beach and other times it was elsewhere. We'd get together at my son's house on Easter Day for a meal. Since the pandemic nothing is the same and I didn't even ask if they were doing Easter. I'd rather stay home and my grandchildren are all in their late teens and early 20s so the egg hunt fun is over.
hi @Princess_Jessica , when I was a little girl at Easter, my mom & dad took me & my brother down 2 Dixon Kentucky 2 have an Easter dinner with my motherβs side of the family. had Easter Egg hunt with my cousins. (I miss those days, all my momβs sisters r all dead & gone) π
That is wild I am from Paintsville KY I know where Dixon is. I know exactly what you mean I miss the good ole days to. Most of my family on my mom's side I never see anymore and most of the family on my dad's side is passed also. It's sad we aren't close to family anymore π’
Hi dear Jess @Princess_Jessica thank you for this Easter thread.
As a French kid we never had egg hunting nor did we know that the Easter bunny existed (This came up in the family with my kids' generation, I think as a new trend coming from the UK and the US).
We however had a "surprise visit" from the "Vatican's bells " dropping some chocolate eggs for us to enjoy (can you believe that? Well as an adult I can't, you really need to be a kid to believe such a story π)
My earliest memory of Easter was when we were living in a flat in Algeria capital city with my two elder sisters and my baby sister. I must have been 5 years old then. At the end of lunch, my mother said: "Oh! I think I heard the bells! Let's see what they brought". And everybody went to open the window leading to the balcony and there they were: beautiful chocolate eggs!! π But I clearly remember wondering how could those strange bells come and go without any of us kids hearing them πππ€£
Happy Easter dear Jelly Community!
This year I am going to a sunrise service at church, then they are having breakfast. After that is Sunday school and regular service. Then we are having a family dinner of ham, au gratin potatoes, sweet potatoes and veggies. Happy Easter everyone!π°π£π π
My family never celebrate Easter at all. But when I'm still a kid, my father's side of family are Christian and sometimes they bring me to church. I remember in church during the Easter the church member will give us egg and we will bring home to eat. I attend children's Sunday school before, all I can remember is we do egg coloring contest at church.
since Iβm all grown up. Iβm having my mother 2 come down 2 my apartment 2 have a small Easter Dinner.π₯π₯§π£π
