Hi Chloe! You've come to the right place... But there isn't a lot to tell you. You need to reach the point target and the fastest way to do that is by getting the bombs. Make as many special candy combos as possible, but bombs have the highest point value.
As far as lives go... If you're playing with random players as "friends" it may help to send them lives and hope they return the gesture. I use Facebook to save my progress and play with my own friends so we send them to each other. It only takes one to help you build up some lives...
There was a recent issue with the life sending-receiving process so please post back if that's what's happening to you and your friends.
