Tried to use boosters and nothing happened

When playing level 1146, towards the end when I had 1 turn left, I tried to use the red hand to combine 2 striped candies, and nothing happened, I did it twice, and the amount of the booster decreased. I then tried to use a lollipop over a black swirly licorice, and again nothing, but my lollipop was considered used so I was left with none. Was that supposed to happen or did the game glitch in a way?

It sounds like the game glitched… Are you able to verify if it is properly connected to the internet? Are you able to see other people’s scores and what not? You could try logging in and out of your account to see if it makes a difference

Everything else was working properly, that's why I found it odd that that would happen. And was thinking maybe I used the boosters incorrectly or something.

When using the free switch (the red hand) you can only move the position candies but not combine them. For example, if you have two striped candies next to you you will change their position but they will not combine.

As for the lollipop hammer it probably didn't work as the licorice went down from the licorice generator endlessly, so if you used a lollipop hammer it was wasted because another licorice fell out of the dispenser right away. To solve this you need to help yourself with the cake bombs that will eliminate the jellies.
