Me... not so much! My plan is to play at my convenience and leisure - while enjoying the game!
Last year, it was fierce and I spent all my Gold to win till Semi Finals! This year, I am not in the "competition" mood 🤔

Thank you for this thread. I would love to share my strategy for winning leaderboard competitions:
I stock up with boosters and gold and make sure the internet connection is good. For leaderboard competitions I make sure I keep my top win streak. You need those win streak boosters on the starting board to get through enough levels quickly enough to top your group. In competitions I also play starting boosters (colour bombs, wrap/stripe, fish or coconut wheel, the lucky candy only sometimes as it can hinder rather than help). If there are two colour bombs side by side always play the combo. If a hand switch will get them side by side, I use it. Then I play as quickly as I can looking to make combos. I pause two or three moves from the end to check if I need to play a booster to pass. If I fail but am close enough I pay 10 gold to keep my win streak.
I play one episode at a time. Joining a leaderboard late is better in the earlier rounds as you will have to spend less time crushing to win the group, but this strategy won't work in the later knockout stages once player numbers are limited. Be aware of the Terms and Conditions and the time you will have to be crushing in the later rounds. It means days of no sleep, no time looking after your family, and sore fingers if you want to stand a chance to get to the final!
Most importantly don't spend more money than you can afford. The eventual finalists will all be players who already have their boosters and gold in their accounts right now before the event starts. Set a budget and stock up on gold bars if you can afford it, but don't buy anything during the competition. Be aware that there are millions of players and therefore, no matter how good you are at the game, others will probably be better than you.
