I am currently writing an essay regarding the development of episode names and how they shape the eras of Candy Crush. I am looking for a story from another developer or player who witnessed the trends of designing the new episodes. I have two questions to ask, especially regarding the timeline of the rotating maps.
Last year's April Fool's Day was notorious due to the repeating episode names. That has been met with universal complaint especially during the pandemic, though the staff said it is here to save memory. Episodes became impersonal and bland, and Candy Crush Saga no longer felt like a saga. Besides the trivial initial two levels, there are only two exceptions to the rule, namely Creator's Crib (E468 with L7000) and very recently, Milestone Meadow (E668 with L10000).
I can also note that the last episodes with "unique" names and themes are really directly derived from previous episodes in order, namely that they use the same story 384 episodes before. The first episode to be part of the series was "Marshmallow Mansion", Episode 421, which is an exact replica of "Biscuit Bungalow", Episode 37. Holiday episodes no longer correspond to holidays, and even champion titles are based off the theme of the reused episode. Previous exact replicas were also found with Polkapalooza E362, also with the champion titles matching the theme.
The last episode in the reused episode series was E487, namely Sprinkle Steppes, soft-released on 24 June 2020 and maybe leaked before E468 was renamed from "Choco City" to "Creator's Crib". I bet one can "avoid" the rotating episode names by switching to an old version of the game just before the version where episode backgrounds were removed from the file. Anyone have a E488 or E468 that is "Choco City", and E467 as "Sprinkle Steppes"?
I wonder when is the first date the repeating episode names are being rolled out, and when the rotating episodes are live to all players?

Attached are some evidence of notable last episodes prior to the full implementation of episode backgrounds:
"Creator's Crib", the 468th episode, with the original "Choco City" backgrounds, cloning E86. This picture was taken on 6 May 2020.
E488, originally intended as "Choco City" due to the renaming of E468, and at the time of the renaming of E468, the last unreleased episode was E477. This picture was taken on 24 June 2020.
E487, "Sprinkle Steppes". This was probably the last episode to be named under normal circumstances, as it was probably made before E468 became "Creator's Crib". Soft-released on June 24, 2020 and hard-released on July 8, 2020, most players should alread have the rotating names, so this might only be seen if you have an old version of Candy Crush running. This picture was taken on December 2020 via an emulator. Does downloading of an old version of CCS and keeping your phone offline work?

E = 1 + (L-1)/10 for the first 20 levels. Level 1 would have its episode calculated as 1+0/10 = 1, Level 10 would have its episode calculated as 1+9/10 = 1, and Level 11 would have its episode calculated as 1+10/10 = 2.
E = 1 + (L+10-1)/15 for the remaining levels. Level 20 would be calculated as 1+19/20 = 1 + 1 = 2, and Level 21 would be calculated as 1+30/15 = 1+2 = 3, and Level 35 would be calculated as 1+44/15 = 1+2 = 3, and Level 36 would be calculated as 1+45/15 = 1+3 = 4.
Finally, L10000 would have its episode calculated as 1+10009/15 = 1+667.2 = 668.

But yep, episode 488 (when originally released); before the map got neutered & still looked cool (the good ol' days).
At least episode 668 shows what King can do, if they felt like it; & you remember that smart fridge comment, at least he found it funny (but probably no one else did)...
