Right, 170 stars. I only have 2 episodes left before I hit the construction site. I have currently 47 stars and if I finished the 30 levels ahead of me, thats 90 stars. I know I cant get all 3 stars! I am sure I’m short of stars to finish the warmup. I am glad it is NOT a requirement to qualify in the semi finals. Still unfair. I prefer the number of green or blue candies.

The warm-up event is totally not worth the bother, unless you were going to get the stars anyway. In your place, I'd leave those remaining new levels for the semi-final and hopefully the final.
This said, you can still get stars without doing new levels in case you have old ones without a full set. I'm currently near lvl 5ooo but I went back to sub-5oo to check. Managed to get 26 stars from those. 👌

They do though.
Look at this screenshot.
Lvl 237 was completed with just 1 star. I did it again and this time I got 3 stars, i.e. 2 more stars, which got added to my star count for the warm-up.
It cost me 2 lives because I didn't use boosters. This way I won't need to do more new levels other than those I usually do daily (1 full episode).
