Hi,
I'm a resident of the United States. I don't have a passport, but I planned on getting an expedited passport if I qualified for the live final. I'm currently sitting in 1st for the first round of the Semi-Finals.
While filling out the contact information there was conflicting information. The T&C states that you need a valid ID with at least 6 months of validity. I have a valid U.S. drivers license that qualifies for that. Although, I won't have a passport with 6 months of validity. Am I disqualified for the tournament for that reason? I'd rather not go through the hassle of rushing to get a passport if I'm disqualified to begin with.
Thank you.
Of course! My questions is, am I disqualified since I don't have a passport with 6 months of validity. In the U.S. I can get an "Urgent Travel" passport but it can't be acquired until you are within 14 days of traveling. I fall outside the window for "Expedited" because that takes 7-9 weeks to arrive.
If the urgent travel passport is valid for 6 months, which you would need to go to the UK I assume, then surely that is sufficient? I 'm pretty sure what they mean in the Terms and Conditions is that you yourself must be able to get the legal documents needed to get to London. It's not up to King to decide what you need, it's the UK government. I cannot believe King would disqualify anyone at this stage of the competition. They just want to cover the legal ground. What they don't want is for anyone in the winning 10 to come at the end and say "I didn't know I needed a passport ". I doubt you'll get an answer from King here in the community, but I 'm pretty sure you are doing the right thing to wait. Just keep playing. You might not get much further anyway, so I wouldn't stress about it.
Please delete your posts @MzMinerva because the information is wrong and you might be worrying others and confusing people with it. You have completely misunderstood the passport requirements. To enter the UK from the US or elsewhere a passport with six months validity FROM the date of travel is required. It does not matter how old it is.
