I'm getting same error message for several weeks
Have you followed the troubleshooting steps suggested by bearwithme?
This happened to me about 2 or 3 months ago and lasted a few week. I tried everything and nothing worked so even though it may me mad, I just ignored it. Finally one day when I started playing, the Chocolate Box was working and has worked since then. Never knew why it didn't work.

This post is from December 2019 and the error has been fixed since then.
Have you made sure you have the latest update installed?
Me too!
Same for me and I deleted and reinstalled the program to no effect. Been going on for about a week
