What are the Sour Skulls?

As the nights draw in and the spooks come out, it's the perfect time to reveal our new spooky addition to Candy Crush Saga, the Sugar Skulls!

What are they?

Sour Skulls are a two-part challenge that takes away that sweet Candy taste! Learn how to tackle these ghoulish gummies and the familiar flavor will return!

When do they appear?

The Sour Skulls will appear from level 8031.

How do they work?

The Sour Skulls are a game element consisting of two components:

The Pedestal

Purple Sour Skull Pedestal in Candy Crush Saga, with a frosted, crystalline border, creating a glowing effect around a smoother center.

Pedestals are blockers that can appear on a level, with the only way to remove them is to destroy them.

The Sour Skull

The Sour Skull has five levels and will appear on any of the Pedestals. Every time you hit the Sour Skull, it loses a life. But the Sour Skull is sneaky! It will move from pedestal to pedestal in an effort to escape you. Keep hitting it with matches to drive it off the board

Sour Skull tips from our Level designers!

Take a moment to pause and plan ahead! The Pedestal will give you a clue as to the Skull's travel sequence, by pulsing ahead of the move.
Do not worry about a pedestal without a skull first. Focus on where the Sour Skull is now and where it is about to land. Remember, you need to hit it 5 times to make the skull disappear.
