I find this event frustrating and I wish I had the choice to opt out of participating.
This event slows my progress by pulling me out of game play to show my position on the leaderboard after EVERY attempt at the level (really unnecessary when I didn't pass the level). This is VERY frustrating when I happen to be playing with time-sensitive boosters!

I agree with you it takes time to show the leaderboard and the timed boosters do not stop
