Playing candy crush soda saga on desktop and my levels reset to 1, was on 1447/8. How can I recover?

I only access the game via the on desktop icon and now when I open it up it reads level 1. Put my email address in to attempt to 'login' and it wasnt recognised, logged into facebook and still level 1. Dont understand why progress has been lost. Very disappointed right now. Any help will be appreciated.
