Progress get's automatically synced to Facebook when connected in game so even if the game is uninstalled, when you reinstall and reconnect it'll place you where it was last synced so your battery dying shouldn't of done any damage. Being disconnected from Facebook is most likely the cause if you've lost levels.

Did you connect to a Kingdom account instead or did you not connect to sync your progress to that either?

As long as you actively connected your game to Facebook previously, your progress will be saved and synced to it. If you did, when you reconnect to that account in the game again, the progress from the point where it was last synced will come up. Yeah there seems to be something going on with the lives at the mo. If that happens it's Facebook you want to troubleshoot before uninstalling straight away. It would be suuuuuper useful to know what the error message as the solution can depend entirely on sometimes.
