The special events and promotion are tied to being connected to Facebook or Kingdom. If the event has disappeared try logging out, closing the game, reopen and reconnect to your account again and it should hopefully bring it back up again.

In order to collect them clear the Cobwebs so you can make a match next to the Spider. When a match has been made, it will jump to the next Spider Nest on the board. Once all the Spider Nests are clear you will collect the Spider.

If you've recently upgraded to Windows 10 then you'll want to download the game App instead from the Windows Store, much better than running it through a browser. If you're accepting all the lives you've received when the game opens then it's no surprise you've not seen the envelope. From my understanding they are stored onto the device itself so that it's possible to play and use them without being connected. Otherwise it would be like with Gold Bars, can't spend them without being connected.
