No, in the live event players are not playing their own accounts at all. They are given a tablet to play on.

I must say I also do not know of any glitches that would earn us gold bars. Boosters, yes, there are tricks to earn boosters, but I have not found any ways to make gold other than the methods you named here. There are indirect ways. There are ways to zoom through episodes and so earn gold bars from the episode races.

The point I am trying to make is that only players who are good enough to keep their win streaks and are "among the very best" will stand a chance in the final two rounds to be played in All Stars.
