What's the sense of colored gems?

I have collected all four in the first area but nothing happened.

What's the sense of collecting them? :)

I think it’s more of a throwback and a nod to the original crash Bandicoot. Once you complete a gem run for the first time, you can redo that every 24 hours for 2 purple Crystals if you do them all daily that’s 18 crystals per day 😎

They'll probably add something extra in the future that have the colored gems involved. Like a new route or something.

Agreeing with the above. They will for sure add something when it comes to gems and also the relics (time trial). In the mean time just enjoy the free crystals 😀
