Its how people earn beans. If your lives are full and they send you lives, you get beans instead. So it could be, even though you are out of lives now, because they were sent when you were full, that's how they have come through. I usually advise, as soon as you lose a life, send out requests to playing friends. As soon as you have run out, you can go and accept any new ones you have been sent while playing and that way will keep topped up
