Platinum Jubilee 👑👑
I am not a big Royal fan, however I do think its amazing that a current Monarch is still on the throne 70 years later and the heir is still waiting for his turn. I bet he isn't overly happy about that!
For those who've been under a rock or don't live in the UK
"On 6th February this year Her Majesty The Queen became the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service to the people of the United Kingdom, the Realms and the Commonwealth"
You can read more about it here, the UK has been very busy planning for this event which is taking place next week. They have delayed the annual late May bank holiday to the Friday instead of Monday and added Thursday too in order to have a big celebration.
So are any of our farmers going to any events, having street parties? Or just going to enjoy the extra bank holiday?
In the Choo house, it will be schools half term and we will be avoiding the events (Not people people we aren't) but as we are missing out on the extra holiday days, schools are having two days off next month instead.
What do people not from the UK think about Englands Queen?

No judgement towards Lizzie, herself... I think she has more than admirably fulfilled the demands and expectations of the position she was born into. BUT... C'Monnnnn... holding an individual and family in higher regard merely because that is the family they were born into, is LUDICROUS! Just my humble opinion!

Hi @Lady_Choo! The day that my sisters was born, Feb. 6th the king died that day. She just turned 70 a few months ago and now the Queen is celebrating her jubilee. Are you aware that the Friends studio created a jubilee outfit for the Jelly Queen commemorating that day.
Is it Prince William (Diana's oldest) that will be taking the throne when she's gone? I know it won't be Prince Charles.
Did you ever watch The Crown on Netflix? That was an interesting story.

Having live in London twice and now having a daughter, son-in-law and grandson (who was born there) living there - I am a big fan of the Royals. The last time I was living there was when Prince Charles was engaged to Diana and then the wedding (the city completely shut down) and also lived there when Prince William was born.
The first time I lived there with my parents was when Charles had his investiture as the Prince of Wales.
I also got to be in the Royal enclosure during the Ascot Races and even saw the Queen Mum (who of course has passed now).
London is definitely one of my favorite cities and I would love to have a flat there where I could live part of the year - especially in the Spring.

Hi @Lady_Choo thank you for the tag, I feel much like you. I won't be taking part in anything. I think the Queen has been marvellous, but I have many personal reservations, I thought a great deal of Princess Diana. Having Thursday and Friday is of no benefit as Bank holidays to me, and for many folk especially with children they are already part of the Whitsun holiday, we should have had our usual Monday, then Tuesday and Wednesday 😁 far more fitting ☺️
As far as I am aware @Elsa it will be Charles that will be King next, and Camilla will be given the title of Queen (which I have my own thoughts about) I had hoped like many that William would be King next (personal thoughts again)
@bearwithme the Queen mother was amazing, I really admired her.
I remember seeing Prince's William and Harry when they were young teenagers, they often spent holidays staying in our village back then enjoying surfing.

I thought I heard that Charles will definitely not be taking over after his mother passes. Maybe it was just the news talking. They were saying that he's too weak to run a country. He doesn't have the brains or the strength. That's what I heard. I guess only time will tell.

@Lady_Choo CONGRATULATIONS to the Queen and may she continue to be in good health and rein in her majestyest best interests for all of England and the people......as we here in America are forevermore trying to find President's who will bring the people of America the best interests for all the people here and alike England, America too has it's faults but it's greatness is far more the better for the country and people in whole......
I believe you can enjoy something's in someway even if it's not everything you hope it to be as we all ( worldwide ) have been suffering from the lack of leadership and without the fear of some one inflicting their own personal gain upon another ( need's stopped ) well enough about that.......

In 2022, Her Majesty The Queen will become the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee after 70 years of service. Get involved in celebrating Her Majesty's historic reign in the run up to the Platinum Jubilee Central Weekend which takes place from 2nd to 5th June.

Hello @Lady_Choo. Like you, we won't really be doing anything special to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee. I've not heard of any street parties or other special events in our village or area -not that I would attend, as they're not my scene
For a woman who.was not born to be Queen, I think she has filled the role admirably. As Queen, she has not really been able to have much of a private life since her father, George VI, was crowned in 1936 (when she was only about 10 years old).
I think most of us have reservations about the Royal Family. and the conduct of some members - but not the Queen's - has been appalling.
Unless there is some Constitutional change @Elsa, however unpopular he may be (and a lot of us have feelings about that), Charles will succeed his mother - although quite a lot of people would prefer William to be King..
