I've just updated my game and have the "New" tractor as well, which is not doing anything differentĀ š§
Did you guys get a tutorial when using it for the first time? And can you please also confirm the game app version you have installed?
I'll check with the studio and get some more information.

Nevermind guys, I have your answer, I was blindĀ š
So the New Tractor Booster will not only collect cropsies but also any blockers:
Flower - progresses flower (1 stage)
Egg/Alligator Egg - progresses un-cracked egg 1 stage. Cracked eggs are unaffected.
Ice - breaks any ice affected.
Water Bucket - progresses bucket 1 time.
Rabbit - KO for 3 turns
Chicken - triggers it.
Bombs -Ā diffuseĀ (converts to cropsie) and collect.
Webs - removes affected webs.
Snowball - breaks the snow.
Firecracker - progresses firecracker 1 stage.
Frog - triggers it.
Firefly - progresses firefly 1 stage inĀ rotation.
Oyster - progresses oyster 1 stage inĀ rotation.
Mushroom - Collected as normal, but also splits into two spores as it does when matched against.
Grass Seed - (Grows if hit).
Flower Seed - (Grows if hit).
Hay Seed - (Grows if hit).
Spider -Ā If the nest is available, the spider moves to it. If not, spider is collected.
