I understand your concern. Unfortunately, the development team is not expected to take your complaint lightly. You can boycott the game to try and effect some sort of change, but unfortunately, many mobile game developers do use predatory tactics to pressure players into making purchases.

Did you play offline, or was your connection unstable? If the connection is unstable, some successful level clears may not count as progress towards the event.
