Level 10296 is tricky, but there is a clue before you even make a move.
Note how a paint booster is generated immediately?

Use this paint to create X2 blocks.
Pets will spawn above X2 blocks - but do not remove these until AFTER the Pet is above them (or your Pet will not drop!)
