Have you taken a look at the troubleshooting section in FAQs (link at the bottom of the page)?

My guess would be that they've not been able to fix the bug on the timed levels and therefore have delayed the release until such time as they have (which probably means that there is at least one timed level in the next episode).

Additional lives on Facebook and King.com have always been on a use them or lose them basis. It's hardly likely to change now! Surely you'd be better exercised working out why you keep getting the errors than mourning the loss of lives that can very quickly be replaced?

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to track and fix a bug in a game as complicated as this one on many different platforms? Obviously not! It'll be fixed when it's fixed. Have a little patience for crying out loud!

There is a bug in extra time system. King must be aware of this by now. There have after all been a gazillion posts on the subject.
