Is it really too much effort to just complete the level again and move on in the normal way? If the crashing is a recurring problem than there is plenty of advice in the FAQs to which a link is provided at the bottom of this page.

You should try wrapping a chain around them and attaching it to a ship's anchor! (Sorry, couldn't resist!) I suggest you read some of the many other posts about syncing issues on the forum in the last week or so for tips on recovery.
