A lot of features in this game are different for all players. King run test groups on everything and keep changing things. I'm not sure why this is, but you can now make matches into empty squares. So if the orange and the red candies on your screenshot were purple, then it would be possible to make the match by moving the purple candy up into the empty space, and that would then break the toffee.

It's not a gambling app, so you can't call it a gambling scam. Candy Crush is not a game of chance and never claimed to be. It's a glitch, like so many glitches in this app. But I really wouldn't worry about it. It does not affect your actual game progress. In my experience there is no difference in what prize the machine gives us whether we are on day 1 or on day 75. I usually get an hour timed colour bombs wherever I am on it.
