I'm sorry they lost all their boosters due to a clean installation. Unfortunately, however, this is a fact.
Boosters are stored locally on your device, while progress and gold bars are stored on King's servers.
When changing devices, boosters are not transferred to the new device and when uninstalling, all locally stored boosters are also uninstalled. They are irretrievably lost. I'm sorry I can't give you a better answer.
I can only give you a tip about what I did myself. Sometime last summer I couldn't start my game anymore, it got stuck on loading. I waited weeks for an update, but that didn't help.
I also had to uninstall (of course I also lost all the boosters and there were quite a few) and reinstall. Then I wrote to the support (directly from the game under Settings, the button with the three lines (see screenshot) and then customer service. I didn't get a replacement by far, but some goodies.
To prevent this from happening again, please check if you have enough free space on your device. You need at least 2 GB for the game to run smoothly. If you have less space available, you will continue to have problems with the game.
Try saving photos, videos, etc. to a cloud and delete them on your device. Also, check your device for unused apps that cost a lot of storage. Most devices have internal programs for this.
