We are really so sorry for your question and Yes! The points can be earned by Badges and Answers only and unfortunately badges cannot be exchanged for gold bars and boosters too. (Just like @teresawallace44 have answered you) 😔
But when you have reached 5,000 points completed, you can get 50 gold bars in your King game's choice. 😊

Oh! If you want to get badges, you can find all of the badges here that you can get more points. (Unfortunately some season badges have no longer available to be given.)
Otherwise, Pyramid Solitaire Community (and other King's Game Community) have no longer contests but have still great news (more feedbacks) for you. 😊

I havent been on here for over a month, they finally made a use for the badges? I saw your post and opened the app but I cant find anywhere to redeem them, is it done through the forum somehow? Last I checked in here the badges were completely useless, it would certainly be nice to be able to get some gold bars out of them. Ive been sitting at 3 bars for many many years since this game doesnt offer a way to get any - unlike others like vanilla CCS and soda saga which I stopped playing as they just removed all the beneficial features that players liked. New badges would be great if they now serve a purpose but how do we get rewards from them?

The badges is only good for the community. It will give you special privileges in the community of King games. This website.
You can win gold bars in contest section of the community.
Example - If you go here you will find the contest to win gold bars and it doesn’t matter if you lay the game or not. Just participate in the contest and you will have a chance to win gold bars.

Well that makes no sense, judging by these links, theyre still useless, you can participate without the badges. What real use do they have now? Like I said I haven't been here for a while and last time I was they were completely useless. How can we exchange them for gold bars or boosters that will help us beat levels?

You can not exchange the badges for gold bars but in the future something may come up to where you can exchange them for prizes.
As I said before the badges is for this community and not the games. If you want to contribute to the community then badges helps other to know where you stand ie: Game Expert, Community Mangers, Superstars, etc... and also gives you points to advance in the community to open different sections that can not be accessed until the allotted points are collected by you.
Maybe @Lola_Pop or @Glenn1972 or @Lim can help you to understand the process with badges.
Just keep crushing and just enjoy the game. The special games in the game come and go. If you don’t have anything then play for a while consistently and the special games will come back.
