Hi Karen! You don't need to spend money to pass the level. However you might have to use boosters on some levels. I normally earn boosters on the daily bonus wheel as well as some of the extra events in the game. Cheers

Hi KWagner! I'm not really sure why this happens on your tablet. Do you have other apps running in the background while playing the game? It might also be a hardware issue. If this is the case then you might have to do a service check of the tablet. Cheers
