I assume you are talking about playing on the App from Microsoft Store on a PC. Please try it when you are playing from Facebook on a browser, any browser. The Esc key has no effect at all. That is where all the complaints are about.

Normally you need to play a few rounds on a new device for the event to retore/update. Go ahead and play your favourite levels.

I believe your score is still intact. It's a matter of updating. Maybe it's due to peak hours. When you continue playing, did you see this screen after the level was completed.

This happened to me very often. I just played a game and it came back. Even by going to the map and come back to the event page will restore your score and ranking. I guess it takes a while to update. Not sure this will work for you.
