This what you describe is a well known issue and I can explain you what is going on! 😀
There is a memory lack on your device or your opponent's device, or some problem related to your or your opponent's provider!
Because of this, your opponent's pic cannot be loaded and the game loads your pic instead! In other cases the game could also load your previous opponent's pic, because there is already buffered in the memory, so you think in that case that you play again with the same opponent! 😀
Some times the real opponent's pic is loaded at the end of the game! You can notice it! But not always! 😉
