It has been pointed out here by michimune that you are referring to the level the player started at when the round started and the level they are at now. This kind of data is not reliable from the player cards. These do not get updated live like the leaderboards do. It is possible the player card has not been updated yet.…

I only half read it I guess. I was just going by the player cards posted. Thanks for pointing out my error. In that case what is the error is that the player cards are not updated very often, so never go by the player cards to assess other players' progress in live leaderboard competitions.

I haven't been counting during the qualifiers but I think it's round about 1500 - 2000 per episode. There are some episodes that give more than others but it's pretty tightly controlled by the game now so that players who crush the most levels the fastest will win the finals.
